the portland union station has been adapted to become the port station hotel. port station hotel was designed with steam-punk culture as the inspiration. this steam-punk theme was chosen because the style thrives on the reuse and recycling of objects and materials, making the design more sustainable and environmentally friendly. to further the efforts in sustainability, port station hotel incorporates the use of led bulbs throughout all its fixtures and uses daylight harvesting for energy efficiency. materials were also chosen that used sustainable products or were constructed using recycled materials.

the dark colors incorporated into port station hotel help give the guests a warm and relaxing environment, as well as providing a statement and elegance. the hotel is equipped with many windows in order to provide natural light into the space to better the guest and staff’s visibility and wellbeing. the dark hardwood flooring brings a feeling of comfort and home to all those that enter. with the porcelain tile providing durability for the constant use that it will endure.
